A 23-year-old shoe salesman was arrested on Thursday for allegedly murdering his lover — a married woman with two children, because he couldn’t tolerate her living with another man.
“Tarun Kherajwani was apprehended a day after Radha Kapoor, who was nine years older to him, was found dead inside the Japanese Park in Rohini's Sector 13 yesterday,” said Chhaya Sharma Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
DCP Sharma said Kherajwani was arrested before he was about to board the metro at Rohini West Metro Station. Kherajwani works as a salesman at a Bata Showroom in Rohini.
“Radha was married and had two children with Kamal Kapoor. She ran a boutique-cum-beauty parlour in northwest Delhi’s Shastri Nagar,” said a senior police officer from the investigating team.
Police said Radha had left
her beauty parlour around 11.30 a.m. on the fateful day after receiving a call on her mobile phone.
“Kherajwani was seen with her on the same day. During questioning, he told us that he wanted to marry her but she was not ready to abandon her family,” the officer said.
“He decided to do away with her when she began ignoring him on the pretext of paying more attention to her family,” he added.
According to police, Kherajwani had called her to Japanese Park on the pretext of settling the matter.
“He began with the same old rant — asking her to leave her family. When she insisted that she couldn't do that, he said he was ready to take care of her children, too,” DCP Sharma said.
“But when she disagreed to this as well he forced her inside some bushes nearby and
started beating her. When Radha resisted, both fell down in the bushes, where Khejarwani strangled her,” Sharma added.
Police said a case had been registered and further investigations into the matter were underway.
