A 28-year-old Kabul Nagar cable operator was stabbed to death on his birthday in Shahdara area of northeast Delhi.
Police said Sonu Kumar had invited relatives to dinner at his West Rohtash Nagar residence on Tuesday. When brother Anil did not turn up at 11.30 pm, Sonu went to Anil’s cigarette shop to fetch him.
“Three men were arguing with Anil about payment for a couple of packets of chewing tobacco. Sonu intervened and the trio took him by the collar, pinned him to a wall and stabbed him in the chest and abdomen,” police said.
Anil raised an alarm and one of the trio, Danish, was caught. Rizwan and Shahbaz, who escaped, and Danish reside in Shahdara’s Rehman Building. They have been booked for murder. Sonu leaves behind his wife and two sons Nikhil (2) and Jatin (4).
