A 36-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his younger brother. The accused, Amar Singh, killed his brother as he suspected him of having illicit relationship with his wife, police said.
Amar, a resident of New Moti Nagar in west Delhi, allegedly stabbed his brother, Puran Singh, to death at his residence on Saturday evening.
“On Saturday, we received a call from the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital about a critically injured person being brought to the hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries during treatment. A case was registered and a team under SHO Raj Kumar was formed to look into the matter,” ACP (west) V Renganathan said, adding that the victim was unmarried and unemployed.
An official said it was rumoured that the deceased, Puran, was having illicit relations with his brother's wife for the past 6-7 years. This often led to quarrel between the two brothers. Initially, the two brothers lived together, but due to Amar’s suspicion, they started living separately.
“Ever since the incident came to light, Amar had been at large. He was arrested, while trying to leave the city. He has confessed to the crime, saying that he suspected his brother of having an affair with his wife,” he said.
“On Saturday evening, he heard Puran abusing him in front of his friend and killed him in a fit of rage,” the officer said, adding they have recovered the knife used in the commission of the offence.
