A 20-year-old man committed suicide at his Sheikh Sarai house on Wednesday with a pistol he stole from his boss, the police said.

Kumar allegedly stole the licensed weapon from Pinto, a security guard at his employer’s house in New Friends Colony.

The police say he committed suicide when the security guard realised Kumar’s role in the theft.

“Pinto along with some men went to Kumar’s house and asked for the gun. Kumar got scared and reportedly killed himself on the terrace of his house,” said a senior police officer, who is not authorised to speak to the media.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H.G.S. Dhaliwal denied any foul play in the incident and said it was a case of suicide.

The family of the deceased, however, has a different story to tell. Amar Singh, a relative, alleged, “He had stolen the weapon of his employer and so the employer got him killed when Rahul was alone at home.”
