A 32-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband’s nephew in south Delhi’s Tehkhand village near Okhla on Saturday afternoon.

The 25-year-old nephew allegedly stabbed the woman to death with a knife in front of her two daughters after she resisted his advances. He then allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison and stabbing himself with the same knife, police said.

The woman died on the spot. The critically injured man was found near the Govindpuri Metro station and taken to hospital, said police.

Some onlookers informed the police. He was admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre and underwent a surgery. His condition is critical, police said.

A senior police officer said that the murder came to light around 1 pm when the victim’s neighbour informed the police about the crime. A police team arrived and rushed the injured woman to ESI hospital where she was declared brought dead.

“Doctors told us that she had a fatal stab wound in her abdomen,” said the officer. A case of murder and suicide attempt was registered after the police learnt that after murdering the woman her nephew attempted suicide in the same room. The FIR was registered on the statement of the woman’s daughters, who were eyewitnesses to the crime.
