Man murders live-in partner, seen by kids playing cricket in Aravalli hills

A resident of Delhi allegedly killed his live-in partner in the dense forest of Aravalli hills, but landed in police net within a few minutes of the gruesome incident.
The incident occurred around 4.30 pm on Friday when a man named Ravi, 30, residing in Karawal Nagar in northeast Delhi along with his live-in-partner entered the forest in Bhadkal area.
Both the man and the woman were on foot and some children playing cricket nearby spread the message that a couple has gone inside the jungle. Three youths quickly started following them.
Ravi, it is said, strangulated his live-in partner and later smashed her head with a stone. The three youths saw him cover the body of the victim with a shawl. “When we went closer to him, he tried to flee and we caught hold of him,” said an eyewitness.
“We caught his arms and checked his pockets to see if he carried any weapon. We recovered some ATM cards and cash among other things from his pockets and then we called the police,” said the eyewitness. Police and hundreds of villagers from Bhadkal rushed to the spot.
The body was shifted to BK Hospital for post-mortem and a stone allegedly used for smashing the head recovered from the spot. ACP NIT Shakir Hussain, SHO Surajkund Pankaj, also rushed to the spot.
The accused Ravi was taken into custody and his interrogation was on till late in the night on Friday.
Ravi hails from Shahjhanpur in Uttar Pradesh and the victim was from Gurakhpur in UP, police said.
“We have come to know that both of them were in a live-in relationship for the last six years and Ravi’s wife stays with his foster mother in Bhadkal area in Faridabad,” SHO Surajkund Pankaj Kumar said.
