The couple was married around five years ago. They were separated around eight months ago. Singh’s wife was staying with her siblings in the three bed room flat at Rohini.

A man stabbed his wife, injuring her grievously, and jumped off the fourth floor balcony of his house on Saturday night in outer Delhi’s Rohini sector 16.

Police said that a little past midnight, a local resident informed the police control room about a woman, bleeding from her arms, who was shouting for help on the road.

While the police team was on their way, they received another call within minutes about a man who had jumped off a building in the same colony where the woman was seen. Police on reaching learnt that the woman was stabbed by her husband, who later jumped off the balcony and died of injuries.

DCP Rohini, Rishi Pal said the deceased Jaswinder Singh, a sales and purchase agent, had come to meet his estranged wife. The two have a four-year-old daughter. Singh was separated and was allowed to visit his daughter on weekends. Singh lived with his parents but came once a week to meet his daughter.

Though police are probing what led the quarrel on Saturday night, preliminary investigation revealed Singh and his wife had a tiff during their meeting. His wife’s siblings told police that during the quarrel the couple had gone to the terrace. Police suspect Singh allegedly came down, got a kitchen knife and stabbed her on his wrists and arms.

The woman then climbed down the stairs and came to the building parking shouting for help. Locals told police that the Singh had first fallen on a car parked below the building and landed on the ground, leading to head injuries.

The two were rushed to the nearby Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospital, where Singh succumbed to his injuries. His wife is admitted at the hospital. Doctors told police her condition is critical.

DCP Pal said the couple was married around five years ago. They were separated around eight months ago. Singh’s wife was staying with her siblings in the three bed room flat at Rohini.

Locals told reporters on Sunday that they did not know the woman. “We hardly saw her speaking. She did not interact with anyone. We did hear the couple fighting once or twice in the past,” a local told a news agency.
