The police control room on Monday received a threat call to blow up Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Police said the call was received around 6.30pm, after which the bomb disposal squad was rushed to the President’s house.

The male caller claimed he had placed a bomb inside Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Police sources said though prima facie it was a hoax, the bomb disposal squad checked the building.

Sources said the call was made from a cell phone. “These threat calls are not rare. We will be able to identify the caller soon as he used a cell phone. It looks like a prank. We will take action against the caller,” said an official.

Last Friday, the police control room received a similar hoax call. The caller had threatened to blow up the Janakpuri Metro station.
