Many questions not taken up in RS as members absent

Notwithstanding the row over absence of members in the Lok Sabha that led to collapse of the Question Hour two days back, a number of members were not present in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday due to which several questions could not be taken up.
Five of the 20 questions listed for the day could not be taken up as members including Amar Singh (SP), Nand Kumar Sai (BJP), Rajeev Shukla (Congress), Ganga Charan (BSP) and Kaptan Singh Solanki (BJP) were not present.
The questions, which could not be taken up, pertained to the Home Ministry and were related to issues like surrender and rehabilitation of Maoists and incidents of infiltration in J and K and north-eastern states.
Proceedings in the Lok Sabha had collapsed on Monday for the first time in two decades for absence of as many as 34 members who had listed questions.
