The husband-wife team that ran Perfect Marriage Jodi turned out to be made for each other when they and their 27-year-old driver were arrested on Monday, three days after claiming their third victim.
Mishan Singh Tomar, 49, and Shashi Kiran, 46, looked respectable and successful south Delhi residents. "They have murdered three men in the past," said HGS Dhaliwal, deputy commissioner of police (south).
While Tomar owns Kiran Travels, operating 250 vehicles, Kiran runs Perfect Marriage Jodi and Gathbandhan Matrimonial Service. Dhaliwal said the trio's last victim was Sanjeev Kumar Dass, 28, a partner, whose body was recovered from Bulandshaher in UP on Friday. Dass had been missing since March 7.
"They lured him to Buland-shaher and strangled him with a rope before dumping the body into a river," he said.
The couple found the modus operandi while getting rid of the first victim, Mohammad Abrar Hussain (42), their manager for 10 years. Later they also killed Kiran’s brother, Ashok (45), who wanted a share of their ancestral property.
"Hussain had been cheating them and had diverted Rs 1crore. He had also developed some intimacy with Kiran. So Tomar ordered his driver, Sarvender Singh Dalal, to pick up Hussain. They strangled him and later dumped his body on a railway track," Dhaliwal said.
Ashok, Kiran's brother, was their second victim.
