Unhappy with sanitation conditions in her area and parts of the city, newly elected Mayor Rajni Abbi will review MCD’s door-to-door garbage collection system introduced a few month’s back.
Currently, the system is in place in Civil Lines and Rohini zones and some parts of Dwarka. The civic agency says, it has received a number of complaints from residents about the garbage collection work in their areas.
“As I had said earlier my focus will be on improving sanitation conditions in the city. This will improve the image of MCD in the eyes of the public. A meeting will be held on Monday in which all the private agencies that are undertaking door-to-door collection of garbage will be called. We will discuss the matter with them. If they fail to deliver we will cancel their contracts,” said Abbi.
Abbi said she is unhappy with the private firm responsible for garbage collection in her own area Mukherjee Nagar which comes under Civil Lines zone. “At a given point in the day they are supposed to maintain zero level garbage at the garbage stations. However, in my area the garbage stations are always overflowing. I have also received a few complaints from residents about the work of private concessionaires,” added Abbi.
