Taking the blame game to another level, the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has alleged that political pressure is a major obstruction in taking action against illegal constructions in the city.

The opposition Congress in the MCD has accused the BJP of not taking any action against the errant officer. It has been 72 hours since the building collapse incident in Lalita Park that killed 70 people.

"Though the civic agency received 9,568 complaints in the past two years, it has taken action on only half of them. Even after three days, they have not taken action against any officials," said Jai Kishan Sharma, leader of opposition in MCD.

The Delhi government has also written to the MCD commissioner to check rampant illegal construction across the city.

MCD standing committee chairman Yogender Chandolia, said action would be taken only after the inquiry is complete.

The MCD commissioner on the other hand said he will wait for the chief vigilance officer's report before taking any action.
