MCD councillor, brother beaten up in Vikaspuri

In yet another case of road rage, a councillor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and his brother were allegedly beaten up by four persons in west Delhi's Vikaspuri on Monday morning.

In yet another case of road rage, a councillor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and his brother were allegedly beaten up by four persons in west Delhi's Vikaspuri on Monday morning.

The councillor, identified as Balbir Tyagi, was coming from Keshav Puram and going towards Tilak Nagar when the incident took place.

"Balbir was in his Honda City car with his brother Vikas. In Vikaspuri, a Tata Ace (goods vehicle) brushed against their car. They entered into an argument with those travelling in the goods vehicle," a senior police officer said.

The argument reportedly took an ugly turn when those in the goods vehicle allegedly started beating Tyagi and his brother. The police have arrested four persons who were involved in the scuffle.

"On the complaint of Balbir, we have arrested two persons named Amit Rajesh and Gopal. The incident took place at around 11.15am," the officer said, adding, "We have conducted the medical examination of Balbir and his brother."

Balbir and his brother are currently under observation at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital A case has been registered at the Vikaspuri police station and further investigation is on.

"We have taken Balbir's statement. He is a BJP councillor from east Vikaspuri. They had a minor argument, but both parties later entered into a scuffle," the officer further said. After the incident, supporters of Balbir blocked the road and protested opposite the police station.
