Team Anna members Prashant Bhushan and Manish Sisodia on Friday visited an injured executive engineer of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), who was allegedly beaten up on Tuesday for taking a stand against illegal construction.

The MCD has given the victim, Ansar Alam, Rs 1 lakh for medical expenses.

Unhappy over delay in nailing culprits, MCD’s engineers association has decided to continue its protest for an indefinite period at the civic body’s office.

Additional commissioner Manish Gupta met the agitating engineers on Friday and assured them more security.

Team Anna spokesperson, Bibhav Kumar, said, “We offered him all possible help in his fight. We feel the police are not doing enough.”

MCD officials had earlier condemned the Delhi Police’s role in the case, pointing out that the police was trying to shield the real culprits and was hand-in-glove with the land mafia.

It has been alleged that the land mafia was behind the attack, since Alam was involved in action against illegal construction in the city.
