Ahead of the April municipal elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to start a rath yatra "against corruption".

Called the jan sangharsh rath yatra, the procession will cover all 272 wards of Delhi from February 11 to February 25. BJP Delhi president Vijender Gupta will sound the 'bugle of public movement'.

"The yatra is being taken out because the condition of Delhi has turned from bad to worse under the Congress rule. The conditions are so bad that people are not getting even basic amenities like water, power, public transport, security, education, health, food, etc. The Congress has been ruling Delhi for the last 13 years but 2 crore citizens of Delhi are not getting enough food and shelter," said Vijender Gupta.

BJP national president Nitin Gadkari will flag off the yatra from Burari village and after covering the city, the yatra will culminate at Chandni Chowk. Aimed at "exposing" the Delhi government, the yatra will first cover north-east Delhi on February 11 and from there on head to Naveen Shahdara on February 12.

The yatra will cover areas such as Mayur Vihar, Shahdara, South Delhi area, Mehrauli, Najafgarh, West Delhi, Outer Delhi, North-West Delhi, Keshavpuram, Karol Bagh, New Delhi area and Chandni Chowk.

"The objective of the jan sangharsh yatra is to prepare every citizen for a change in the city," Gupta added. He added that the Shunglu Committee has exposed the corruption during the Commonwealth Games.
