MCD it seems is determined to prove the adage "prevention is better than cure".

So, starting early to combat any possible possible outbreak of dengue after monsoon, the MCD will hold a workshop in the Capital on Saturday on community participation for prevention and control of vector-borne diseases.

The civic agency brought out a notice inviting residents welfare associations, NGOs and citizens to "participate in preparation of strategies" to prevent diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya.

Noting that aedes egypti mosquitoes transmitting dengue and chikungunya breed in clean water, the corporation said community members have a vital role in preventing such diseases.

MCD's public health department will hold the workshop at the civic body's headquarters at Town Hall.
