To solve the problem of sub-division of plots in villages and special areas of the Capital, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday decided to remove some clauses mentioned in the rulebook.
One clause that has been removed demands houses to have 4.5-metre wide roads in front of them. As many villages have narrow lanes, people are unable to get their properties registered. “The properties should be registered in their present form as it is not possible for owners to match the requirements as mentioned in the regulation,” said Yogender Chandolia, chairperson of the MCD standing committee.
The move comes after a notice was issued on Monday, saying that the MCD would seal those houses which have not been registered as per the Building Regulations for special areas, unauthorised regularised colonies and village abadis-sub-division, in rural and special areas.
A notice issued by the MCD on Monday said with the Delhi Development Authority notifying building regulations for special areas, the moratorium which gave protection to such areas no longer existed and sealing would start soon. Urban villages like Shahpur Jat, Hauz Khas village, Munirka, Chirag Dilli, Lado Sarai, Ber Sarai and special areas like Chandni Chowk, Sadar Paharganj, Karol Bagh, etc may face sealing.
