Surajkund Police have registered a case against unknown people in connection with the manhandling of a group of electronic media journalists in Aravali area.
"We have registered a case under sections 148, 149, 323, 506, 427 of the IPC against unknown people in connection with the manhandling of journalists on January 3," SHO Surajkund Jitesh Kumar said.
Journalists from a television channel had gone to Surajkund area to shoot alleged felling of trees on January 3 when some people manhandled them and damaged their cameras.
The media persons had said the area they had gone to shoot in Surajkund was being levelled in violation of the Supreme Court directive banning non-forest activity in Aravali.
"We came to know that non-forest activity was going on in the Aravali area and rushed to shoot it in the morning of January 3," said Sachin Gaur, who works for a well-known news channel.
He added, "I went with a reporter of another news channel, Ajit Sinha, and our cameramen reached the spot and started shooting. Some people appeared on the scene and started manhandling us and also snatched our cameras and mikes."
"The men also threatened us not to visit the spot again," Gaur claimed. They immediately informed the local police.
"We have registered the case against unknown people last evening," SHO Surajkund Jitesh Kumar said.
