Revellers are flocking to not only the eateries at Durga Puja pandals but also the medical stalls there.
Gurgaon-based Artemis Hospital that has set up a medical stall at one of the pandals in south Delhi's Chittaranjan Park has given first-aid to about 25 people in the past three days. The stall has a heart specialist and two trained nurses available till 11pm when the rush of pandal-hoppers is at its peak.
At least 10 people come to the stall daily to get their blood pressure levels checked.
PK Chattopadhyaya, a retired bank official, spent 15 minutes at the stall enquiring about the precautions someone with a stent should take.
"I got my angioplasty done at a government hospital. Because of the rush there, doctors were unable to give me much time. These guys have shown me in detail how angioplasty is done and how I should take care now," he said.
The medical stalls in the pandals open at 10am. Fortis Healthcare has stationed three ambulances at pandals for any medical emergency. The ambulances stay at the pandals from 8.30am to 1am daily."We have all the facilities for emergency care," said Stanly Titces, a paramedic in one of the ambulances.
