Breaking all previous records, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) peaked its daily average earnings in September—making it the most profitable month ever since it began operations.
A DMRC spokesperson said the metro’s average daily earning was Rs 1,00,27,877 in the last month.
This is the first time since it started almost seven years ago on December 25, 2002, that the Delhi Metro has earned so much in a month.
Among the three operational Metro lines in the Capital, the Dwarka Sector 9 to Yamuna Bank corridor (line3) earned the highest revenue at Rs 41,39,892.
The route from Dilshad Garden to Rithala (line 1) earned Rs 31,27,559. The earning from the Jehangirpuri - Central Secretariat corridor (line 2) was Rs 27,60,426 last month.
The Metro spokesperson said the highest revenue on a single day last month stood at Rs 1,18, 65, 966, which was achieved on September 7. On August 3 this year, the Metro earned Rs 1.25 crore, which was the highest revenue in a single day ever since it began operations.
The average daily ridership in Metro in September was 8.53 lakh.
