A 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted outside Delhi’s Uttam Nagar Metro Station in a car by two men who then drugged her and took turns to rape her at a flat in Bijwasan area. The two later dropped the girl outside her home in a semi-conscious state.
One of the accused was arrested and the Hyundai Verna car used in the crime was also seized, the police said. The other accused is on the run. A case of kidnapping, drugging, wrongful confinement and rape was registered at the Bindapur police station on the girl’s complaint, the police said.
Surender Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (southwest), confirmed the crime and said that they were looking for the missing accused. They were also trying to identify the flat where the girl was allegedly confined and gangraped. Both the accused are known to the girl, police said. They said the man on the run had met the girl at his sister’s wedding in 2016.
The girl in her complaint alleged that she left home at around 8am to board a Metro from Uttam Nagar. She met the two men outside the station and they offered her a lift in their car. Since the girl knew them, she accepted their offer.
She also alleged that the second accused gave her something to drink. “As the drink was allegedly spiked, the girl fell unconscious after drinking it. When she regained her consciousness, she found herself locked in a flat. The two men then took turns to rape her. They threatened to harm her and her family members if she told anybody about it,” said a police officer quoting her complaint.
According to the police, the matter was reported to them at around 3pm, almost two hours after the girl reached home and her family members asked her where she had been since morning. She narrated the incident to her family members and they in turn called the police.
According to a senior police officer, they have found some discrepancies in the girl’s statement. “The evidence collected in the case, so far, suggests that we need to probe the case further,” a police officer said. Investigators have learnt that a friend of the girl’s brother had seen her sitting inside the Verna outside the Metro Station. When he informed her brother, the family members allegedly reached the house of the missing accused and entered into an argument with his family members.
“It was after the girl returned home that her family members approached the police and filed a case. We are verifying their allegations,” added the officer.
Despite hue and cry over the issue, minors in the national capital are still not spared the horror of rape.
