A 62-year-old retired doctor of a Delhi hospital, who allegedly went missing on December 20, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Rajendra Nagar area of Sahibabad on Sunday. The post-mortem report indicated that the victim was strangled to death, said SSP Raghubir Lal.
Dr SR Singh, who worked as a pathologist in-charge at a blood bank organisation in the national Capital, allegedly went missing while going to Delhi. His family lodged a missing complaint at the Vijay Nagar police station on December 21. They also approached the Indirpauram police station on Saturday as Singh often took Metro from Vaishali station to reach Delhi.
Singh's body was recovered from the bushes, some 300 meters away from the railway tracks near Rajendra Nagar area in Sahibabad. Police sources said his body bore several injury marks.
"We're probing the case," Lal said. Officials suspect that the murder took place 24 hours before the body was found.
