The body of a 45-year-old small-time businessman, who went missing on September 20, was found in Burari in north Delhi on Saturday, police said. Moham Mishra is thought to have been poisoned by his killers who fled with his cash.
Mishra, who was from Darbhanga in Bihar, dealt in used three-wheelers and lived with his family in Burari’s Baba Colony at a house he had taken on rent.
His body was found in Harit Vihar by a passerby who informed the police. Burari police have registered a case of murder and begun investigations to arrest the killers.
“We have registered a case of murder and are probing the case. The possibility of personal enmity or business rivalry cannot be ruled out at this stage, though it appears to be a case of murder during robbery,” a senior police officer said. The police are hoping that Mishra’s post-mortem report will explain the exact cause of his death, as no injury mark was not found on his body.
On September 20, Mishra had called his wife around 4pm to tell her that he was on his way back home from Moti Nagar.
“Mishra had his business in Moti Nagar. That day, he was returning home after getting some cash from a customer. He was in Kingsway Camp when he told his wife over phone that he would be home in 15 minutes,” the officer said.
“When Mishra did not turn up by 5pm, his wife became worried and tried calling him on his cell phone, which she found to be switched off,” said the officer.
Till late in the night, Mishra’s family members kept looking for him. When they were unable to find him, they approached the Burari police and registered a complaint, said the officer. “On Saturday evening, we received a call about a body in Harit Vihar. We informed the family members, who identified the body,” added the officer.
