The tribal man from Jharkhand whom AIIMS doctors accused of running away with hospital property returned to the hospital, reports Rhythma Kaul.
The tribal man from Jharkhand whom AIIMS doctors accused of running away with hospital property returned to the hospital on Friday.
Hospital authorities said they have no idea where Shivlal Soren (23) went. He had come to AIIMS with a bullet in his head.
“Where he went is for the police to find out. We are doctors, we will just treat him,” said a doctor.
Soon after Soren was re-admitted, AIIMS received another order from Delhi High Court asking it to send him to VIMHANS for a second opinion.
“We are bound by the court of law and shifted him to VIMHANS this evening,” said Dr D.K. Sharma, AIIMS medical superintendent.
On Tuesday, the hospital had refused to treat Soren on the ground that chances of his survival were slim. Soren had lost vision in his right eye because of the bullet injury. Only after Soren approached Delhi High Court did the hospital admit him in the Trauma Centre on Wednesday.
However, on Thursday the hospital said Soren, who was taken to the eye centre of the hospital, ran away with all his medical reports.
What was ironic is that he was in judicial custody of Jharkhand Police and was with a policeman at that time.
AIIMS lodged a complaint at the Sarojini Nagar police station against him for absconding with “hospital property” — his medical records.
Soren, a tribal from Kathikund village in Jharkhand’s Dumka district, arrived in Delhi on January 31 with a bullet embedded in his brain.
He was injured in police firing on while protesting with a group of people a power plant coming up in the area.
