A Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) has been accused of molesting a teacher, four months after the incident allegedly took place. BSA Dharamvir Singh, however, has claimed he is innocent.

Mritunjay Singh, the SHO of Surajpur police station, said, “The teacher alleged that on November 25 last year she had gone to get signatures of the Basic Education Officer. He passed obscene remarks and touched her also.”

The police have registered a case after court orders under section 354 (Assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (Criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

The teacher had approached the district magistrate with her complaint. The judge had ordered an inquiry in the case and directed the Chief Development Officer to file a report. The report is yet to be submitted. The woman had then moved a local court, which ordered the police to file a case.

Singh told HT that he had detected misappropriation of funds by the teacher and had recommended strict action.

“Her scam was detected around November 12 last year. She lodged her complaint with the DM on November 25.”
