The accused reportedly raped the victim after she refused to pay them the money for the damage done to the car. The incident was reported on December 11 when hundreds of policemen were out patrolling the streets as part of a special drive.

The victim’s friend — Ravi who was accompanying her when she was reportedly pulled inside the car at a busy marketplace in Mongolpuri — has also recorded his statement before the police narrating the entire episode.

A separate report regarding the 14-year-old boy who was accompanying the other accused — Rama, Chanderpal, Dabbu — has been filed in the juvenile justice court.

The police have 24 witnesses, including the station house officer (SHO), the tent owner, who saw the men abducting the victim, and forensic reports in the case.

“We have filed a chargesheet in the case on Friday. We had recovered the car used in the crime after the incident,” said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (outer). According to the victim, she had left her house around 9pm to pick up her mother, who works in a factory, when her bicycle accidentally rammed her into their Hyundai Accent car. The accused misbehaved with her. Irked, she picked up a bunch of keys her neighbour was carrying, and threw it at the car, breaking the windscreen.

The men demanded money for the damage. When she refused to pay, they pulled her inside the car.
