The Delhi police will have more money in its kitty this fiscal year.

In 2009, Delhi Police received Rs 2859.01 crore, including salary arrears of Rs 325 crore of the Sixth Pay Commission.

This year, the police got Rs 2836.53 crore, lower than last year. But if the arrears are not taken into account in last year's budget, then there is an increase of Rs 302.52 crore.

The unit, which functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs, received Rs 125 crore alone for various modernisation projects.

There has been 100 per cent increase — from Rs 40 crore to Rs 80 crore — in funds for developing traffic and communication network.

"We have got sufficient budget to meet our expenditures," said Rajan Bhagat, spokesman, Delhi Police.
