The Vote-on-Account of over Rs 9,000 crore for Jharkhand, which is under President's Rule, was presented in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
Presenting the interim budget for the state as well as the supplementary demand for grants, Mukherjee sought a Vote-on-Account for the first four months of the financial year 2009-10.
Jharkhand was brought under Central rule on January 19 following a major political crisis after Chief Minister Shibu Soren lost from the Tamar assembly seat in the bye-elections. The assembly was kept under suspended animation.
The total amount sought in the Vote-on-Account was over Rs 9014.95 crore, the budget document said.
As per the 2008-09 revised estimates. The revenue expenditure of the state rose by Rs 1758.85 crore mainly due to the implementation of Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.
The 2009-10 Budget Estimates place the revenue receipt at Rs 18494.14 crore. There is an increase of Rs 2387.05 crore compared with the 2008-09 revised estimates of Rs 16107.09 crore.
The plan outlay for the ensuing fiscal is estimated at Rs 9544.07 crore, including the enhanced allocation on account of the state plan of Rs 185 crore.
