Leading Muslim organisations have demanded dismissal of home minister Shivraj Patil, the Intelligence Bureau chief and the Delhi police chief for their "failure to stop terrorist attacks in the country".
The organisations have come together under the 'Indian Muslim Coordination Committee' to press for their demand. The body has been formed to counter criticism of the Muslim community in the country.
Heads and representatives of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Jamiat-e-Ulema Hind, Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawart, Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadees, Shia Political Front, Muslim Political Council, Majlis-e-Ulema Hind met at the headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind here on September 17.
The body expressed anger over Muslim bashing in India and attacks on the community, a release said. A five-member committee was formed to chalk out plans to take on the anti-Muslim campaign.
The committee comprises Dr Zafarul Islam Khan, Maulana Abdul Wahab Khilji, Maulana Abdul Hameed Nomani, Dr Tasleem Rahmani and Mujtaba Farooq, political affairs secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.
It demanded a high-level inquiry into all blasts and terrorist attacks.
The committee also demanded the dismissal of home ministers and police chiefs of all states where terror attacks have taken place.
It demanded a ban on Hindutva extremist organisations like the Bajrang Dal, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Hindu Vahini.
It warned if these demands were not met, a demonstration will be organised at Jantar Mantar on September 26.
