Minister of state for External Affairs E Ahamed, the sole representative of the Muslim League in the Lok Sabha, said he would vote in favour of the trust motion but left the issue of continuing as a minister open. “As of now I am a minister. If anything else happens, you will be informed,” he said.

Ahamed said his party is concerned that the India-US nuclear deal should not affect the independent foreign policy of the country. “My party has certain reservations about the nuclear deal but we will certainly support the government as this government has done a lot for the welfare of minorities,” Ahamed said.

He said the Muslim League couldn’t be party to any attempt to weaken the Congress and secular alliance.
