Expecting the worse, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has dispatched three teams to Indira Gandhi International Airport to check the Indians coming from Japan for radiation poisoning.

According to sources at NDMA, the teams have sent personnel with bio and radioactive hazard suits and also sent HAZMAT vans to the airport.

Teams would be carrying radiation-checking meters and each passenger would be thoroughly screened. Ambulances have been kept on stand by to take people who might be sick to hospitals.
The Nuclear Disaster Core Group is carrying out the checks, which is part of the NDMA. Major General (retired) JK Bansal heads the group.
