An additional list of prospective candidates for another 15 of the 70 Delhi Assembly constituencies, who will fight the elections on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tickets, will be announced this week. The interview to shortlist the prospective candidates will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday and an announcement of the names is likely to be made this week.
“Interviews of a few candidates are still to be done and by Wednesday we will be able to complete it. We will announce the list of the prospective candidates for the 15 seats later this week,” said Manish Sisodia, who is part of the candidate screening committee of AAP.
According to AAP sources, the entire process of selecting the candidates will be complete by July so that candidates have adequate time for campaigning. Those who are being called for the interview had applied for it and it will be held in Kaushambi.
The party had already announced a list of prospective candidates for the 12 assembly seats last week which included names of party’s founder Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, media personality and AAP member Shazia Ilmi and others.
Sources said the new list of candidates will have approximately 50 names.
Sisodia said that a number of people had applied and they have now been called for the interview which includes many factors such as clean image, “winnability” and knowledge of the constituency from where they want to contest etc.
