Starting next year, children in Delhi will have an added incentive to go to school and study. With several schools in Delhi and NCR ready to incorporate greater practical know-how in their curriculum, the students will now not have to learn by rote, alone.

“One of the principal objectives of any education system is to facilitate the process of equipping students with knowledge, skills and competencies to enable them to solve problems related to real-life situations. Skills such as critical thinking and teamwork through projects at classrooms must result in innovation skills,” said Chitra Ravi, founder of EZ Vidya, which is working to build this model.

While almost 400 schools across 11 states have already adopted this model, 75 Delhi schools now have their eyes set on it.

“This is a learning model for the 21st century and it encourages a curriculum which will fulfil our expectations. This is a more contemporary version of the present curriculum,” said Seema Jerath, principal, DLF Public School, Sahibabad.

Schools are also confident that it will only enhance the overall development of children, outside their regular curricula.

“This model will revolutionise the curriculum and will encourage students to think instead of learning blindly. It will also enable them to get a deep conceptual understanding,” added Jerath.
