With bus stops being one of the most unsafe places for women, especially during the night, the Delhi police have decided to review the security arrangements and reassess the deployment of police personnel at vulnerable bus stands at night.

In a recently held meeting, the women and child development department has also asked the Delhi police to review the security arrangements at bus stops immediately.

Though last year the police had started the process of deploying its men at bus stops, the project was gathering dust with no mechanism in place to check whether the police officials were actually patrolling at the bus stops. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/Popup/2012/12/23-12-12-pg-06b.jpg

“Earlier, too, the Delhi police were supposed to carry out regular patrolling and ensure their men were present at vulnerable bus stops during morning and evening peak hours, but now we have suggested the deployment of police personnel at night too,” said a senior Delhi government official.

In September last year, the Delhi Police had identified 282 bus stops which were considered unsafe by women, especially during peak hours.
