There is no proposal to bring the concept of creamy layer among the Schedule Castes in the country, the Lok Sabha was informed on Thursday.
There is no proposal to introduce the concept of creamy layer amongst the Schedule Castes, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Subbulakshmi Jadadeesan said while replying to a written question on whether the Government intended to apply the condition for the SCs which is already in place for the OBCs to benefit the poor among them.
The minister also informed the house that there was no proposal under consideration for introduction of an amendment bill to provide adequate benefits of reservation to the poor among the SCs.
OBC Data: The Social Justice Ministry has initiated an exercise for preparing a comprehensive data base relating to the OBCs so as to improve the quality of decision making.
However, only 13 states and Union Territories have given information in this regard, she replied in response to another question and added that Haryana, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Daman and Diu have informed that they have no such data.
Disinvestment: The Railway Ministry is proposing the disinvestment of RITES Limited, a public sector undertaking, by issuing fresh shares through Initial Public Offering, Minister of State for Railways, R Velu said.
