To discourage the spectators from consuming alcohol close to the ground during the IPL T-20 matches at Feroz Shah Kotla grounds, the excise department has withdrawn liquor licence from one of the seven enclosures.
Senior excise department officials said the enclosure is located on the ground floor and is quite close to the playing arena.
“We don't want spectators consume liquor so close to the cricket ground,” said a senior excise official.
The department has also asked the stadium management to ensure that the persons consuming liquor from the licensed enclosures do not go out with liquor in their hands. The stadium management has also been asked to put up display board warning spectators not to indulge in public drinking.
“We will deploy our enforcement team to keep a close eye during the match on Sunday,” an official said.
