In a breather to the DMK first family ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly polls, the issue of Kalaignar TV and DB Realty money trail doesn’t find mention in the first chargesheet filed in the court on Saturday. It is most likely to figure in the supplementary chargesheet which CBI sources say will be filed before April 25.
According to investigators they have to tie some loose ends in the matter. The CBI had recently arrested Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal in the matter. Both are directors in the Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Private Limited (now Kusegaon Realty). The CBI has alleged that Kusegaon and Cineyug was used to channel money to Kalaignar TV.
According to CBI sources, the role of DMK chief M Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi is being examined in this regard.
The CBI has stated another quid pro quo related to Green House Promoters Private Limited is being probed. Green House was promoted by Sadique Batcha, who died under mysterious circumstances. The CBI will probe the death of Batcha. Sources say there may be more arrests in the case.
According to sources there are more companies which got the unified access service (UAS) license along with the Swan and Unitech, are still under probe. The role of these companies is likely to figure in the next chargesheet. The CBI is examining the role of Loop Telecom, S Tel and Videocon Telecommunications Limited, sources said.
