Law minister M Veerappa Moily on Friday said since the Supreme Court had rendered the appointment of PJ Thomas non-existent, there was no need for his resignation.

“Where is the question of resigning? There is no need. The Supreme Court itself ipso facto said it. So there is no question. He cannot continue,” Moily said. He hinted the government would issue a notification saying the post of CVC was vacant.

Soon after the SC verdict Moily had said Thomas had resigned. But, Thomas’ counsel said his client had not quit and and was mulling moving a review petition against the apex Court verdict.
