Temperatures in the city continued to soar despite light showers on Wednesday afternoon. The maximum temperature in the Capital was recorded as 41 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal.

The weather department said the light rains were not an indicator of the onset of monsoon. "These are just pre-monsoon showers," said the Met department.

"Till now monsoon has reached up to central and east. Monsoon is expected to reach Capital by next week," said an official at the Met department.

However, the Wednesday showers brought some cheer to Delhiites.

“The short span of rain was very refreshing. I just hope the monsoon come soon,” said Nayantara Keskar, a student.
