The police have not been able to catch the robbers who made off with an ICICI ATM machine in Kasna area of Noida.

However, the police have definitely found a novel way to prevent a repeat of the incident: shut down the ATMs from 8 pm to 5 am.

At least that is what’s happening in Jevar, which has one solitary ATM machine.

“Being a rural area, the villagers do not use the ATM machine at night. After consultation with the locals, we directed the SBI ATM to down its shutters at 8 pm and open at 5 am the next day. This has been done as a preventive measure to check robberies,” S.C. Tomar, Deputy Superintendent of Police said.
