Though there have been individual cases of “cocaine busts”, Delhi Police has never managed to bust any “rave party”
in the city. Police say such parties do happen but have shifted to the fringes like Noida and Gurgaon.
“There is tremendous police pressure in Delhi, the organizers of such parties prefer farmhouses in far off places. Gurgaon and Noida are definitely the favourite destinations now,” said a senior police officer in Delhi.
Police say the organizers of such parties are quite discreet in their operations and the invites for such parties are sent through SMSes.
“They are a very close knit group. No stranger is allowed to such parties. Sometimes the police get to know about such parties once they are over. We cannot do much as there is hardly any evidence,” said the officer.
When contacted Mohinder Lal, commissioner of police Gurgaon said, “We do not have any information about such parties in Gurgaon. If we come to know about any such party we would definitely take action.”
Such parties are frequented by school students, college goers, call center employees and MNC executives among others.
“Such parties are conducted with much caution. The invitees are asked to park their cars at least a kilometer away from the venue. They have their own men in the party who keep an eye on the visitors and sound an alert, the moment they find anything suspicious,” said the officer.
