The Congress on Monday said it was not going soft on BJP chief Nitin Gadkari following reports suggesting that a company, which allegedly got benefits when he was a Maharashtra minister, later gave him a loan of R165 crore, and left it to the government to proceed against him.

“We are not soft on BJP. We don't go into personal businesses of people. There are certain allegations in public space. Authorities like the SEBI, income tax department and finance ministry are more than competent ....sure they will take cognisance," party spokesman Sandeep Dikshit said. Howver, Dikshit maintained “personal allegations should not be dragged in public life.”
