Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday said that she has not received any complaint from the people about inflation, which has touched a 13-year high of nearly 12 per cent.
"You people (media) have been writing about the price rise but I am not getting any such complaint from the people," Dikshit told reporters on Thursday on the sidelines of a meeting of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP).
To corroborate her claim, she said in "my recent 'phone-on' programme, I received complaints regarding stray cattle, potholes on the streets and beggar menace but not a single one was related to the price rise, power or water problem."
Dikshit said "people understand that it (price rise) is not due to government's policy but global trends and food crisis" and it will not be an issue during the November assembly polls in the city.
Also, she said, you have to compare the prices in the other nations as well who have similar economy and it (inflation) is almost comparable.
Infact, in the last few days, prices have stablised... Most important is that the basic items of daily needs have seen some decline even if it is meagre, that is what the statistics say, she said.
The Finance Minister has also said that we will also control the situation in a few days. If the government has given subsidy on LPG gas, it was done to give relief to the people, Dikshit said while referring to the steps taken by her government to ease the situation.
