"We want the people to meet and connect with the writers and publishers in our comic industry and explore the current trends. There is a lot of potential in this industry which need to be tapped. It is an effort to celebrate our love for comics and give a boost to the industry," says Jatin Verma who is organising the event.

The comic publishers participating in the convention include Diamond books, Vimanika, Level 10 while Raj comics and Amar Chitra Katha are also expected to be part of the event.

"It will be an opportunity for publishers to sample the growing popularity of comic books and graphic arts in India and reach out to die-hard comics enthusiasts," says Verma.

The convention will have a book fair featuring the biggest comics and graphic publishers from India and abroad as well. In addition to this various artists from across the country will be coming in to conduct workshops, ranging from fun stuff to the more academic ones.

The organisers hope to attract producers for animation films and tele serials on the Indian comic heroes.

"There are many Hollywood films on international comic heroes like Spiderman and Superman. We want producers to take note of the likes of Naagraj and Doga and come out with movies and serials on them," says Verma.

A special anthology featuring previews from all the publishers and artists taking part in the convention will be available to delegates and people visiting the event.

An award ceremony will be organised at the end of the event to honour the pioneers and bring to light the new talent joining the comic industry every year.

"There will be a separate corner for the artists where they can showcase and sell their work to general public," says Verma.

The convention aims to bring new talent forward in comic writing.

"The backbone of any great comic is the story and it comes from creative individuals. This place will be a chance for the writers to showcase their work to the world," says Verma.
