The CBI on Tuesday arrested CWG Organising Committee (OC) additional director general KUK Reddy and supplier Praveen Bakshi over their alleged involvement in the irregularities related to the supply of overlays for the sporting event.
Reddy and Bakshi were nabbed on Tuesday after getting interrogated by the CBI officials, according to an agency source. The agency had on Friday searched the premises of Reddy, a former Indian Air Force group captain, along with five other OC officials and overlays suppliers in Delhi and Noida. The CBI had recovered several incriminating documents relating to irregularities in the award of overlays tenders, worth over R600 crore.
The CBI had in January lodged a first information report (FIR) in the case based on allegations that the overlays contracts had been given allegedly at exorbitant rates.
Naming OC's director general VK Verma, the FIR had alleged that he and others had entered into a criminal conspiracy with managing director/director of private companies in the award of contracts.
