An eight-year-old girl lost her life when an official Ambassador car belonging to the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) rammed into her on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident took place in the IP Estate area in New Delhi District. The PCR call was made at around 10:15 am.
The incident happened when the driver of the car was coming out of the hospital after dropping an official. The deceased Angoori was playing near the exit gates when the car hit her. "The girl was playing when the speeding car hit her from behind. She suffered severe injuries. A passerby immediately made a PCR call. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries while she was being taken to Lok Nayak Hospital," said a senior police officer.
The deceased was a native of Madhya Pradesh and was living with her parents and two sisters.
Her father Hari Das is a daily wage labourer. The police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver, Satish Kumar and arrested him. They have impounded the vehicle as well.
Car crashes into truck
In another incident, a 26-year-old newspaper distributor was killed when his car rammed into a stationary truck on the Ashram flyover in New Friends Colony in Southeast Delhi in the wee hours on Tuesday.
“The deceased Rajiv Kumar, a resident of Faridabad used to work as a newspaper distributor and a driver for a Hindi daily. He was coming from Noida in his Maruti Omni car and was heading towards Delhi. A stationary truck was parked on the right side of the flyover. The driver of the truck was changing the tyre. Kumar was allegedly speeding and lost control over the vehicle.
