A Delhi court has issued contempt notice to PWD and MCD officials for their alleged failure to repair a stretch of road despite its directions.

"Let show cause notice of contempt be issued to R K Singh, PWD Executive Engineer, S Dodrai, Engineer, S P Zone, MCD and DVS Kansal, EE, PWD for June 2," Senior Civil Judge Ajay Goel said.

The court issued the notice on an application by Delhi-resident Bhagwan Singh Rathore alleging failure on the part of authorities to repair a stretch of road from Buddha Jayanti Park to Inter State Bus Terminus, Kashmere Gate.

Rathore's counsel Anuj Arora told the judge that despite the PWD and MCD officials' undertaking in the court to repair and resurface the entire stretch, it remains in pitiable condition.

He said the order of the court is yet to be executed, following which the judge also directed issuance of notice of execution.

Rathore had moved the court after using the "rough" stretch from Buddha Jayanti Park (Vandemataram Marg) to inter state bus terminus, Kashmere Gate, for over a year.

He had filed a complaint against Delhi L-G and PWD for their alleged failure to ensure proper condition of roads.

Following this, the officials had told the court that they would immediately start the repair work on the stretch.
