A 12-year-old was killed and eleven others injured in as many as five accidents which were reported from different parts of Delhi till Saturday morning, the police said.

The first of these was reported from Mayur Vihar area and the victim was identified as one Prem around 10:30 pm. According to witnesses, Prem, whose father is a farmer, was crossing the road when a speeding BMW ran over him and fled.

“He was rushed to the adjacent Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where doctors declared him dead. A case of causing death due to negligence has been registered and we are looking for the errant driver,” said an officer.

Meanwhile, five people were injured after two cars had a collision near central Delhi’s Boat Club around the same time.

“The victims were rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where one of them is serious but stable while the others were discharged after being administered minor first aid,” an officer said.

The third accident was reported from Rohini’s Vishram Chowk late on Friday night, in which three people suffered minor injuries during the collision of two four-wheelers. The local police were informed, who then rushed the victims to a private hospital from where they were discharged after being administered first aid.

Two more accidents were reported from northwest Delhi more or less around the same time — one from Sultanpuri and the other from Mangolpuri area in which two pedestrians were run over by unidentified heavy vehicles in hit-and-run incidents.

“In the first accident, one Irshad was found bleeding on the road by a police van patrolling the area. In the other accident, a victim identified as Shreepal was found to have been hit by a heavy vehicle in the Mangolpuri area,” said an officer. The police said both victims were rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where they were admitted with serious injuries and are still critical but stable.
