The government on Wednesday said 200 Indian fishermen with 35 fishing boats have been apprehended by the Pakistani Navy this year.
"As per records in Navy, 35 Indian fishing boats with 200 fishermen have been apprehended by the Pakistani Navy," Defence Minister A K Antony said in reply to a query in Rajya Sabha.
Besides, 123 fishermen in 31 boats have been apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy as well. Antony said Coast Guard ships and aircraft are deployed to carry out regular patrols to prevent Indian fishing boats from crossing the International Maritime Boundary Lines (IMBL).
On modernisation of the Ordnance Factory Board, the Minister said the government was planning to spend Rs 214,193.64 lakh on defence public sector units in the next five years.
In reply to another query, the Defence Minister said the latest Defence Procurement Procedure has the provisions of sharing funds between the DRDO and Indian defence industries in the ratio of 80:20 to develop 'High Technology Complex System' upgrades.
