Pakistani poets to enthrall Gurgaon

An Indo-Pak mushaira with 12 shayars (poets), including six from the neighbouring country, will be held in Gurgaon on August 19. Titled as Chaman Ki Aasha, the event will take place at the Kingdom of Dreams auditorium in Sector 29. HT reports.

An Indo-Pak mushaira with 12 shayars (poets), including six from the neighbouring country, will be held in Gurgaon on August 19. Titled as Chaman Ki Aasha, the event will take place at the Kingdom of Dreams auditorium in Sector 29.

The event would be organised by jointly by the Bhartiya Cultural and Social Development Association and Rashtriya Rajiv Sena on the occasion on the eve of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's 65th birthday.

According to Chander Sharma, vice-chairman of the Haryana Kala Parishad, the Mushaira wil be inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

The six Pakistani poets are Arhat Shazad, Fouzia Tabassum, Perveen Sijal, Shehzad Ahmed 'Shehzad', Rahat Indori and Syed Nasir Zaidi.

The six poets from India re Shabeena Adeeb from Kanpur, Nida Fazli from Mumbai, Tarun Kumar 'Tarun', Munawwar Rana from Kolkata, Naeem Burhanpuri from Burhanpur and Waseem Barelvi from Bareilly.

Sharma said that similar event was held every year in India and this was for the first time that it was being held in Haryana. The Union Minister of State for Labour, Harish Rawat, and former Lok Sabha Speaker Balram Jakhar and former minister Sunil Shastri were also likely to be present in the event, he said.
